APB gets Steam F2P rebirth as ‘APB Reloaded’

Just over a year following the closure of UK developer Realtime Worlds, All Points Bulletin, the crime faction title largely responsible for killing them, is being reborn under the name APB Reloaded as a free-to-play MMO available for Steam.

After Realtime Worlds’ demise in September 2010, the game rights were purchased for approximately $2.5 million by K2 Network, a California-based company specializing in MMO titles. In its new iteration, APB Reloaded is being launched by Reloaded Productions, a K2 subsidiary.

Free-to-play or not, and while I am intrigued to discover just what exactly went wrong with this title, it is my responsibility as the disseminator of this news to inform you that the original version of APB garnered a Metacritic average of just 58%, and was bad enough to run its developer into the ground. I think it might be worth taking that sort of information into account before you dive in, and adjust your expectations accordingly.

Those who decide to jump in before December 19 will get ten days of exclusive free access to a Premium Upgrade Pack, which contains:

Up to a 90% bonus to all Contact Standing (XP) gains
125% bonus to all APB$ (in-game currency) gains

APB - PTW is online!

The moment you have been waiting for has finally arrived! You can download the PTW Launcher and start playing 1.4.1 now! No need to worry about downloading APB all over again, the new installer will copy any files it needs from your existing APB installation.

Here's what you need to do to start playing:

Download the PTW installer from http://eu.ptw.apb.com/downloads/ptw-installer
Patch to 1.4.1 (56)
Log in using the same details as your EU Live account
Create a new character and start playing.

You won't be able to use your existing character at first, so create a new character. Rather than delay your chance to try out the latest changes, we're letting you start with brand new characters and adding the ability to copy your live character at a later date.

The PTW will be up and running 24/7 until further notice, so stop everything you''re doing and start playing!

Publisher THQ announced Red Faction: Battlegrounds

Publisher THQ announced Red Faction: Battlegrounds, a new game in the universe of Red Faction.
In Battlegrounds you have to fight in an arena. THQ has registered a domain name specifically for the game. Battlegrounds will be available only for download on Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network. The release date is not yet known. Remember that THQ is developing a brand with might and main Red Faction: making a new part of the original game and is preparing to shoot a movie.

Two new character in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Ubisoft revealed two new characters in the game Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. They turned out to be a blacksmith and a soldier. All the 2 characters will be added to the updated list of heroes, and also they will be available in the beta multiplayer test for the PS3, which will be held in September.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will be released on November 16, 2010, for the PC, PS3 an XBox 360

APB 1.3.1 (55) Patch Notes

Here are the patch notes for the small patch 1.3.1 (55).

GENERAL

The achievement ‘Friends In High Places’ is now awarded correctly to players who have achieved the required criteria.
An exploit that allowed players utilizing keyboard macros to rapidly and continuously witness criminals has been addressed. Cash rewards for witnessing have been removed as a temporary solution while they work on a more suitable fix.

Today all APB game server will be offline between 09:00 GMT until 12:00 GMT. This is to deploy the 1.3.1 (55) Patch!. This is a small patch to fix "I"ve Friends in High Placed" achievement and an exploit. The full patch notes will be available later.
